[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] On the 18th, lawyer Kim Nam-guk, who decided to run for Seoul Gangseo-gap, the constituency of Geum Tae-seop of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed "sincere thanks" to former Dongyang University professor Jin Joong-kwon, who criticized him.
On that day, Kim posted on his Facebook, saying about former professor Jin, "When I was discharged in 2006 and came to Chung-Ang University and met the professor on campus, it was very fascinating," adding, "He accurately saw through all social issues and summarized them with restrained and concise words, which I thought was refreshing and impressive."
He continued, "Although I had several opportunities to meet him at school, it was not easy to greet him and start a conversation," and added, "The professor probably does not remember my face, but I am still grateful for the good advice he gave me about my career path and studies at that time."
He said, "Even today, more than ten years later, I am thankful that he sharply pointed out and scolded me. Although I feel very wronged about some untrue points, I will deeply consider the parts the professor pointed out."
Then, lawyer Kim said, "I cannot immediately clear up misunderstandings with words, but my sincere intention to solve 'livelihood issues' for a society where people can live a little less hard, and my determination to engage in more humble and low-profile politics are genuine," adding, "A few years from now, I will devote myself more humbly and sincerely so that the professor can say, 'Ah, I had some misunderstandings about Nam-guk at that time.'"
The day before, former professor Jin criticized Kim's candidacy as a 'hitman nomination.' He posted on his Facebook, saying, "This is absurd. The Democratic Party must be crazy," and added, "They intend to make this election entirely about Cho Kuk."
Lawyer Kim participated as a writer in the 'Cho Kuk White Paper Promotion Committee,' which was launched to document the prosecution and media's behavior from the appointment to the resignation of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk.
