Opening of 'KBIZ Jungso Gieop Yeonguso'... Unveiling of 'Jeokjeong Daega Jaga Sanchul System' Exterior view of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business Associations

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business (KBIZ) announced on the 18th that it held the opening ceremony of the 'KBIZ Small and Medium Business Research Institute' at its headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.

The opening ceremony was attended by 24 people, including KBIZ Chairman Kim Gi-moon, Nakyeonghwan, Vice President of Industry-Academia Cooperation at Dankook University, Jeon In-woo, Acting Director of the Small and Medium Business Research Institute, Jo Bong-hyun, Director of IBK Economic Research Institute, and chairpersons of industry-specific cooperatives.

The KBIZ Small and Medium Business Research Institute plans to focus its capabilities on fair economy, innovative growth, and cooperatives. In the fair economy sector, it will focus on research into systems for coexistence between large and small businesses, including ▲support measures for small businesses to receive fair prices for supply contracts ▲development of standard joint technology development, confidentiality, and purchase contracts ▲development of an index to improve subcontracting transactions.

In addition, in the fields of innovative growth and cooperatives, the institute plans to study models that can efficiently utilize and disseminate various manufacturing data accumulated in smart factories, centered on small and medium business cooperatives in the same industry.

To select timely topics and enhance research expertise, the institute formed a policy research team and appointed Nakyeonghwan, Vice President of Dankook University, as the head of the research team.

Prior to the opening ceremony, the 'Standard Cost Special Committee' was also held. It presented the research results on support measures for receiving fair prices for supply contracts, titled the 'Small and Medium Business Product Appropriate Price Self-Calculation System.' This research was jointly conducted by KBIZ and the Korea Productivity Center.

Through an indexation method, it calculated the degree of price changes and proposed a way for small and medium businesses to check changes in raw material prices using publicly disclosed price data.

Initially, it plans to promote the system for use by small and medium businesses and cooperatives related to ready-mixed concrete and casting manufacturing. Through follow-up research, it aims to expand the system's use to other industries and utilize it as reference material for negotiations on adjusting supply prices for small and medium businesses.

KBIZ Chairman Kim Gi-moon stated, "The research institute will not conduct research disconnected from reality but will analyze the environment faced by actual small and medium businesses and propose alternatives so that the field and policy changes can be organically connected." He added, "We will also develop the appropriate price self-calculation system to a level that satisfies the small and medium business community through communication with the field and experts."
