Gangnam-gu Supports Young Entrepreneurs with Office Space and More for One Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) is recruiting about 70 young entrepreneurs for the 10th term to move into the Youth Startup Support Center by March 27 to contribute to fostering startups and creating jobs.

The recruitment target is young entrepreneurs aged 20 to 39 within the region who possess excellent technology in IT, technology, design, and knowledge services (such as media and cultural content development). Startups established less than 3 years ago as of the announcement date (teams consisting of 1 to 5 members) are eligible to apply.

The district will select the final successful candidates based on the highest scores from the first document screening and the second presentation evaluation by judges. Selected teams will receive support starting in May for one year, including office space for startups, startup education, one-on-one expert consulting, mentoring, marketing promotion, and participation in domestic and international exhibitions.

Additionally, after one year, companies with outstanding startup performance will be selected for an additional one-year extension of support.

Since establishing the Youth Startup Support Center in 2010, the district has graduated a total of 190 young startup companies. The 21 companies graduating this year achieved 21 completed developments, 61 intellectual property rights, 46 job creations, and sales of 1 billion KRW.

Lee Yong-dal, Head of the Job Policy Division, said, “We will actively support young people’s spirit of challenge, creativity, and innovation capabilities in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution era to lead the creation of ‘Gangnam, a city where youth want to live.’”
