[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 17th, Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the United Future Party, held the first Supreme Council meeting and emphasized the significance of unity, stating, "The history of the Republic of Korea will focus on today and remember it as a major turning point in political history." The newly joined Supreme Council members pointed out the opposition party's lack of innovation and called for innovation and expansion of the party's scope.

At the Supreme Council meeting held that day, he stated, "More forces are responding to the people's mandate called unity, and these streams will meet to become a river, and the river will flow, changing the great current of history." The Liberty Korea Party, the New Conservative Party, and the Advance for Future 4.0 (Advance Party) held the launch ceremony of the United Future Party and completed the new party merger.

Leader Hwang emphasized, "In the reality torn apart by defeatism and conflict, when we presented a vision of unity that no one had ever tried, some shook their heads, saying it was an impossible path, but we could never stop or give up." He added, "We boldly put aside our small differences and selfish desires and instead filled ourselves with the determination and mission to revive the Republic of Korea, which is collapsing under the Moon administration's judgment."

He said, "As decisions of sacrifice and dedication gather, the frozen stream of unity, like perennial snow, begins to flow." He added, "Yesterday, three parties led by the 2030 generation declared their joining. We will hold the hand of even one more person and move forward together. Unity is neither the final station nor the destination but a process and a method."

Leader Hwang proposed ▲ unity that opens the future ▲ unity where centrists and conservatives come together ▲ unity that protects the lives of the people, emphasizing, "We will humbly and passionately delve into the lives of the people and create a capable and trustworthy party through change and innovation."

Supreme Council member Won Hee-ryong said, "Although it is true that there are still shortcomings, by uniting ourselves first, we have opened a path for the people to gather their hearts more significantly." He pointed out, "Unity is a new start, and I think we have achieved the necessary conditions today for the Republic of Korea to move properly, but the people are worried that, disappointed by the past opposition parties, the trend might revert to the past."

He continued, "True innovation that fits the future standards we must create, not the already passed standards of the past, will be the sufficient condition to set the country right." He added, "We will breathe the content and demands of public sentiment, which I felt while listening to opinions from people with various political views on the front lines, into the new United Future Party and realize them through action."

Kim Young-hwan, a Supreme Council member from the People’s Party, apologized, saying, "I founded the People’s Party to be the opposition, and the people created a party with 39 seats, exceeding a 26.74% party support rate, but that party became the second, third, and fourth factions of the opposition and denied parliamentary politics, so I have the original sin that makes me unqualified as a Supreme Council member."

He emphasized, "Our task is to solve the problem where Jin Joong-kwon and Im Mi-ri say 'except the Democratic Party' and tell people to vote for the United Future Party." He added, "We have the responsibility to respond to the people's desperate demand to judge the Moon administration while lacking an alternative force."

Kim Won-sung, a Supreme Council member from the Advance Party, said, "Young people in their 30s and 40s, including myself, were disappointed by the injustice of this government, and I think the first opposition party, Liberty Korea Party, which should have checked this, has not shown signs of change so far." He added, "Today is the day the first opposition party begins to change, a historically significant day marking the start of the counterattack to judge the Moon administration, and I will devotedly contribute to expanding the conservative base in the future."

Lee Jun-seok, a Supreme Council member from the New Conservative Party, said, "I learned from someone called the 'Queen of Elections' that when dedication and innovation, these two gods, combine, any election breakthrough is possible." He explained, "Dedication means having the courage to make room for juniors after working hard for the country so far, and innovation means having the courage to voice opinions suitable for the times without being suppressed by the outstanding achievements of seniors."

He pointed out, "When dedication and innovation are sincerely achieved, the people will say that we have reformed within a not-so-distant time." He warned, "However, if our efforts end up as insincere power struggles or empty slogans, people will mock us, saying it is not reform but 'delayed reform' (Sesin)."
