[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] A comfort woman statue was spotted in Jang Do-yeon's house.
On the 14th, MBC's 'I Live Alone' aired, revealing Jang Do-yeon's daily life.
Jang Do-yeon brought the newspaper that was delivered as soon as she woke up. She said, "I've been subscribing for about 5 to 6 years. Shin Dong-yup once said that if you read the newspaper every day, write a diary every day, and read about one book a week, your life will change."
Then, she stopped reading the newspaper while looking at flyers and event schedules between the pages. Son Dam-bi, watching this, asked, "Is that the end?" Jang Do-yeon joked, "Still, the will to read was there; starting is half the battle, so I read half."
Right after the broadcast, a comfort woman statue placed on the living room table in Jang Do-yeon's house was discovered. Although the statue was not prominently featured on the show, some sharp-eyed netizens noticed it, sparking attention.
The small comfort woman statue that Jang Do-yeon owns is modeled exactly after the statue erected in front of the Japanese Embassy. It was created in 2016 by the 'Jeong-ui Memory Foundation' to raise funds for the comfort women victims.
