Megabox to Screen 9 Met Opera Productions Including Turandot This Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Megabox will present nine works from the '2020 Season Met Opera,' including 'Turandot,' through its curation brand 'Classic Society' this year.

Live performances from the New York Metropolitan (Met) Opera, considered one of the world's three great operas, can be viewed at Megabox theaters.

The first work, Puccini's final opera 'Turandot,' was released on the 8th and will be screened until the 28th of next month. 'Turandot' tells the story of Prince 'Calaf,' who solves the riddles of the cold and beautiful Princess 'Turandot,' experiencing love and hope and realizing the meaning of sacrifice.

The role of the cold ice princess 'Turandot' is performed by soprano 'Christine Goerke,' the role of Prince 'Calaf,' who risks his life to marry Princess Turandot, is sung by tenor 'Yusif Eyvazov,' and the devoted slave 'Liu' is portrayed by 'Eleonora Buratto.' The production of 'Turandot' by 'Franco Zeffirelli' features Met's music director 'Yannick N?zet-S?guin' as the conductor.

Following 'Turandot,' operas such as 'Manon' by French composer Massenet, 'Tosca,' one of Puccini's three major operas, Donizetti's 'Maria Stuarda,' a masterwork of Italian bel canto opera, as well as 'Madama Butterfly,' 'Akhnaten,' 'Wozzeck,' 'Porgy and Bess,' and 'The Flying Dutchman' will be screened.

The '2020 Season Met Opera' works, including 'Turandot,' will be shown at five Megabox locations nationwide: COEX, Central, Mokdong, Bundang, and Kintex.
