[Announcement+] Unisem Reports 11.5 Billion KRW Operating Profit in 4Q Last Year... "Highest Quarterly Operating Profit"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Unisem announced on the 17th that its consolidated financial statements for last year recorded sales and operating profit of 179 billion KRW and 24 billion KRW, respectively. Sales and operating profit decreased by 16.5% and 8.1% compared to the previous year.

A company official stated, "Although sales have decreased compared to 2018, when the semiconductor industry was at its peak, profitability has improved due to increased demand for high-end equipment driven by process miniaturization," adding, "Last year, Unisem's operating profit margin was 13.4%, slightly up from 12.2% in 2018."

However, in the fourth quarter of last year alone, operating profit reached 11.5 billion KRW, marking the highest quarterly operating profit since the company's founding. The operating profit margin for the fourth quarter rose to 20.0%. Fourth-quarter sales were 57.1 billion KRW, and net profit was 8.8 billion KRW.

Unisem is a specialized company in scrubbers, equipment that treats harmful gases generated during semiconductor and display production processes, and chillers, temperature control equipment.

An Unisem official said, "Since the fourth quarter of last year, investment in the semiconductor industry has increased, leading to higher equipment demand," and added, "In the display industry as well, there is a high possibility of new investments in OLED lines by major customers this year, so performance improvement is expected."

Meanwhile, Unisem held a board meeting on the 17th and decided on a cash dividend of 50 KRW per common share.
