Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station Participates in Blood Donation to Support COVID-19 Blood Supply

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station (Chief Lee Wonyong) has been actively participating in blood donation events to ensure a stable blood supply due to the recent sharp decline in blood reserves caused by COVID-19.

On the 17th, according to Bukbu Fire Station, about 20 firefighters, volunteer firefighters, and social service personnel rolled up their sleeves and boarded the blood donation bus after hearing that the spread of COVID-19 has disrupted the smooth supply of blood.

This is the second time since the Korean Red Cross blood donation vehicle visited the fire station on the 28th of last month, and they participate every time there is a regular or urgent request.

Before participating in the blood donation, the blood donation vehicle was pre-disinfected to prevent infection, and participants wore masks and sanitized their hands. They also thoroughly checked eligibility for blood donation by filling out a preliminary questionnaire and confirming any overseas travel history.

Lee Wonyong, chief of Bukbu Fire Station, said, “Blood donation is the best way to share life and love,” and added, “We hope to help alleviate the shortage of blood supply even a little, and we will actively participate in additional blood donation sharing events if necessary.”
