Confirmed 'Negative' After Two Tests at 24-Hour Intervals
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University Hospital (Director Jeong Jong-hoon) announced on the 6th that the 22nd confirmed case of 'COVID-19' who was isolated and hospitalized in the nationally designated inpatient treatment ward (negative pressure isolation room) at Chosun University Hospital will be discharged on the 17th.
The 22nd confirmed patient, Mr. A, is the older brother of the 16th confirmed patient. After having a meal with his younger sister's family during the Lunar New Year holiday, contact was confirmed, and while under self-quarantine, he tested positive and was immediately isolated and hospitalized in the nationally designated inpatient treatment ward at Chosun University Hospital around 2:30 a.m. on the 6th.
At the time of isolation hospitalization, Mr. A showed no symptoms such as fever or chills and was in very good condition. Chosun University Hospital administered the HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) treatment drug 'Kaletra' while maintaining strict isolation and monitored his condition.
Since Mr. A showed no significant abnormal findings and tested 'negative' in two real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests conducted at 24-hour intervals, the medical staff, considering his underlying conditions, made the final decision to discharge him on the 17th.
Meanwhile, Chosun University Hospital is making every effort to prevent further spread of COVID-19 by controlling all entrances except the central entrances of Building 1 and Building 2, thoroughly checking all visitors for fever and overseas travel history to ensure the safety of hospital users.
