The More Refined 4th Generation Sorento... Kia Motors Unveils Interior and Exterior Design

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kia Motors unveiled the exterior and interior design of the fully redesigned 4th generation ‘Sorento’ for the first time on the 17th. The new Sorento is scheduled to be officially launched next month.

The newly revealed Sorento by Kia successfully inherits the strong design heritage unique to Sorento and the practicality of an SUV, while also incorporating the sophisticated and delicate image of a sedan.

The exterior design of the new Sorento was realized with the concept of ‘refined intensity.’ At the front, the evolved ‘Tiger Nose’ grille is positioned. The ‘Crystal Flake’ design, which completes the details of the grille and headlamps, is inspired by the crystals of ice and gemstones, maximizing the three-dimensional sculptural beauty of the front. The daytime running lights (DRL), shaped like a tiger’s eyes, give the new Sorento a powerful impression and presence as if staring into the eyes of a fierce beast.

The side features a character line in the ‘long hood style’ that extends from the hood’s edge to the rear lamp, offering a solid yet voluminous feel. The rear is characterized by a striking contrast between vertical and wide sculptural elements, giving a strong and sturdy impression. Kia plans to establish this rear design as the signature design of its mid-to-large SUV lineup.

The interior of the 4th generation Sorento was designed with the concept of ‘functional sensibility,’ creating a space where function and emotion harmonize. Large displays such as a 12.3-inch cluster (instrument panel) and a 10.25-inch AVN, along with a dial-type electronic shift-by-wire (SBW), were designed to enhance intuitiveness and usability while maintaining a sophisticated design.

Inside the new Sorento, one can also experience the delicate feel of a sedan. The ‘Crystal Line Mood Lighting’ offers a refined sensibility that differentiates it from existing mid-size SUVs, and the premium materials and garnish three-dimensional patterns that appeal to both touch and sight maximize the emotional quality of the interior.
