[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Technology Finance Corporation (Chairman Jung Yoon-mo, hereinafter Kibo)'s technology evaluation system is spreading beyond Asia to Mexico in North America. Kibo announced that from the 13th to the 15th, during a three-day international workshop held at the headquarters of Mexico's National Development Bank, it transferred the technology evaluation system (KTRS) to Mexican government officials and officials from national financial institutions.
This workshop was arranged at the request of the Mexican side, who wished to receive Kibo's technology evaluation know-how and experience, and was facilitated by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the largest regional development financial institution in the Americas. Participants included government officials from Mexico's Ministry of Finance involved in SME support policy planning, executives and employees from the National Development Bank overseeing SME financial policies, and the National Export-Import Bank, a public export credit institution.
Kibo explained the components and principles of the technology evaluation system and the evaluation framework to them, and introduced the technology evaluation processing procedures and application know-how through actual case studies. Additionally, Kibo shared other advanced evaluation systems such as the patent value evaluation system utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), and discussed mutual cooperation plans to support innovative companies in Mexico.
The technology evaluation system transferred to Mexico this time is a patented asset independently developed by Kibo. It has been recognized domestically and internationally for its reliability and excellence, with the European Technology Innovation Support Agency Federation introducing it as a best practice and recommending its adoption in Europe. Recently, requests for transfer and exchange have continued from advanced countries including Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Japan. In particular, since last year, Kibo has been the only Asian participant in the European-style technology evaluation service platform construction project supported by the European Union, leading the development of evaluation indicators for technology evaluation systems applicable to the European environment.
Director Lee Jong-bae of Kibo said, "Kibo's technology evaluation system is recognized for its excellence not only domestically but also internationally and is spreading to countries around the world," adding, "We hope that Kibo's technology evaluation system and technology finance know-how can help the Mexican government foster technology SMEs."
