[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Americans who were isolated in Japan aboard the cruise ship 'Diamond Princess,' where a large outbreak of COVID-19 occurred, are boarding charter flights to return to their home country.
On the 17th, American passengers aboard the Diamond Princess, docked at Yokohama Port in Japan, boarded about ten buses and, escorted by police, moved to Haneda Airport where the charter flights arrived. They are currently waiting briefly at the airport before boarding the charter flights.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, they will be divided onto two Boeing 747 charter flights sent by the U.S. government and will head to Travis Air Force Base in California and Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. They are scheduled to be quarantined for 14 days, the incubation period of COVID-19, along with Americans previously evacuated from Wuhan by charter flight.
