This is the highest number of successful candidates since the department was established, drawing attention.
According to Dongshin University on the 16th, nine people including Kim Euijeong (23), who is scheduled to graduate this month, graduates Kim Hyunhee and Hong Jikyung (2019 graduates), Kim Seohyun (2018 graduate), Heo Junghwan, Kim Sea, Kim Yuram (2017 graduates), Lee Inhwa (2016 graduate), and Choi Boyoung (2014 graduate) passed the ‘2020 Professional Counseling Teacher Appointment Examination.’
By region, Jeonnam had the most with 6 people, followed by Seoul with 1, Gwangju with 1, and Chungnam with 1.
Since the department was established in 2005 and began offering teacher training courses in 2006, the Department of Counseling Psychology has devoted itself to training teachers and has produced 17 counseling teachers in the past three years alone.
In particular, the number of successful candidates has rapidly increased each year with 3 in 2018, 5 in 2019, and 9 in 2020, boosting the confidence of current students.
Since 2013, the Department of Counseling Psychology has been intensively developed as a specialized department within the university, and since 2016, through support from the Ministry of Education’s University Specialization Project, it has vigorously promoted the training of professional personnel for child and adolescent preventive counseling, which is now being recognized as a successful achievement.
Among this year’s successful candidates, Kim Sea attracted attention by passing the Jeonnam Office of Education appointment exam in 2018 and then again passing the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education professional counseling teacher appointment exam this year.
In the case of Heo Junghwan, after studying abroad in the United States and attending an aviation university, he entered Dongshin University’s Department of Counseling Psychology as a late entrant in 2013 to become a professional counseling teacher, achieving his dream of passing the appointment exam just three years after graduation.
Choi Boyoung became a professional counseling teacher after working at another job and attending graduate school, taking the exam this year.
They are scheduled to be appointed as professional counseling teachers at middle and high schools in their respective regions after completing training courses.
Kim Euijeong, who passed the professional counseling teacher exam on her first attempt while still enrolled at the university, said, “Thanks to the solid major curriculum and the professors’ highly professional classes, I was able to prepare for the national youth counselor certification and the appointment exam without much difficulty during my four years of undergraduate study.” She added, “Dongshin University’s Department of Counseling Psychology offers a variety of field training programs and special lectures, which help develop counseling skills.”
