President and Ministers to Deliver 'Economic Policy Report' via Live TV Broadcast on the 17th

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the 17th, four key economic ministries including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Financial Services Commission will hold a New Year work briefing at the Blue House. In particular, President Moon Jae-in and the ministers of economic departments will report on economic policies through a live TV broadcast.

Han Jeong-woo, the Blue House Chunchoo-gwan Chief, explained on the 16th, "The common slogan is ‘Certain Change, Republic of Korea 2020’ with the slogan ‘Leaping Economy, New Future’," adding, "To overcome the economic activities contracted by COVID-19 and to present the key economic tasks for 2020, a joint work briefing of the four core economic ministries will be held."

The economic ministries’ work briefing will proceed in the order of the president’s opening remarks, watching a video related to innovative growth, and so on. The ministries’ work briefings will be conducted in the order of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Financial Services Commission.

Han, the Chunchoo-gwan Chief, explained, "The live broadcast will continue up to this point, followed by case presentations and discussions. Then, it will be concluded with the Prime Minister’s closing remarks."

This work briefing is a method where the president and the ministers of economic departments directly deliver the achievements of innovative growth and the vision of economic policy to the public. Han said, "Through the live TV broadcast, the public will also be able to watch the economic policy vision related to the work briefing," adding, "I think we can say that it is a concept of a work briefing together with the people."

Additionally, the work briefing will be conducted in the form of a town hall meeting where the president, economic officials, experts in the economic and industrial fields, and businesspeople gather to discuss together. The space of the briefing venue will also be arranged in an oval shape so that the president and attendees are physically as close as possible to receive the briefing.

Along with the ministers’ work briefings, related presentations by economic experts are also planned. Presentations will be made on cases related to innovation achievements in materials, parts, equipment, manufacturing, venture companies, and innovative finance. A message with the vision of turning crisis into opportunity is expected to be delivered.
