On this day, Jo Cheol-gang (played by Oh Man-seok) confirms orders received from North Korea and encounters Ri Jeong-hyeok (played by Hyun Bin). Ri Jeong-hyeok fires a gun at Jo Cheol-gang when he lets his guard down, but the gun is out of bullets, and Jo Cheol-gang is shot by a South Korean National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent. Before dying, Jo Cheol-gang says that their father will be at the end of the Four Brothers case and then dies.
After arresting Ri Jeong-hyeok, the NIS agents go to the hospital where Yoon Se-ri (played by Son Ye-jin) is admitted and arrest North Korean soldiers as well. When the 5th Unit members are arrested, Yoon Se-ri asks to be taken along, but the agents ignore her, and the 5th Unit members stop her, saying it's okay.
During the NIS investigation, Ri Jeong-hyeok lies that he came down to recruit South Korean conglomerate heiress Yoon Se-ri, and the 5th Unit members remain tight-lipped, frustrating the NIS agents. Yoon Se-ri, on the other hand, tells the truth, which exhausts the NIS agents and leads to a face-to-face investigation. However, seeing Ri Jeong-hyeok continue to lie even in front of her, Yoon Se-ri struggles and eventually faints while leaving the investigation, later being diagnosed with sepsis.
Meanwhile, Gu Seung-joon (played by Kim Jung-hyun), chased by Yoon Se-hyung's (played by Park Hyung-soo) henchmen, hides in Ri Jeong-hyeok's house and meets Seo Dan (played by Seo Ji-hye). Gu Seung-joon refuses Seo Dan's suggestion to go to Pyongyang, asks her to take him to the airport the next day, and puts a ring on her finger. He then leaves a message asking for one chance when he returns in good condition.
After parting ways with Gu Seung-joon at the airport, Seo Dan breaks down crying in a taxi when those chasing Gu Seung-joon kidnap her and threaten to kill her if Gu Seung-joon does not come. Ultimately, Gu Seung-joon tries to leave the country but goes to save Seo Dan. During a gunfight with multiple kidnappers, Gu Seung-joon is shot, bleeding and collapsing, and Seo Dan runs to him, crying.
Ri Jeong-hyeok also rushes to the hospital after hearing that Yoon Se-ri is in critical condition due to sepsis. He is distressed to see Yoon Se-ri lying with an oxygen mask on.
