[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] On the 14th, Li Keqiang (李克强), Premier of China, who visited Beijing Railway Station, said, "We must minimize the risk of epidemic transmission due to population movement."

According to local media such as China Central Television on the same day, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) caused by large-scale movement after the Spring Festival (Chunje, 春節, Chinese New Year), Premier Li Keqiang, head of the Central Epidemic Leading Group, inspected the capital's Beijing Railway Station the day before.

Premier Li Keqiang visited Beijing West Railway Station, urged station officials to thoroughly implement quarantine measures, and checked the health status of passengers disembarking from trains. At this occasion, Li Keqiang stated, "By implementing various measures in parallel and properly resolving the issue of personnel return, we must minimize the risk of epidemic transmission caused by population movement."

Li Keqiang said, "Currently, epidemic prevention and control has entered an important stage," and "Most regions are orderly resuming work and production."

To prevent large-scale movement, Li Keqiang reportedly ordered strengthening the reduction of passenger volume and appropriate allocation when selling tickets.

Li Keqiang emphasized, "It is important to carry out epidemic prevention measures scientifically and meticulously," and urged, "Ensure the smooth supply of epidemic prevention materials, daily necessities, and personnel transportation, and strive for the prompt recovery of work and production."

Earlier, on the 27th of last month, Li Keqiang visited a local hospital in Wuhan, Hubei Province, the origin of COVID-19, to inspect epidemic response measures and to console medical staff and patients.
