Galaxy Z Flip Sold Out in Singapore

Galaxy Z Flip Sold Out in Singapore

[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Cho] Samsung Electronics' second foldable phone, the 'Galaxy Z Flip,' sold out within one hour of its launch in Singapore.

According to Samsung Electronics Singapore, on the 14th (local time), the Galaxy Z Flip sold out completely within one hour on the Samsung Electronics online store. The second sale will take place at 8 a.m. on the 16th.

Unveiled at the earlier Unpacked event, the Galaxy Z Flip is a clamshell-type smartphone that folds vertically like a compact designed for women. Compared to the Galaxy Fold, which was the industry's first release last year, it features reduced size and weight for improved portability and differentiated design, while the price was lowered. The unfolded display measures 6.7 inches, and except for the front camera located at the top center, it is the first foldable phone to implement a hole display fully filled with screen.

On the same day, it continued its sold-out streak immediately after release in South Korea as well. The initial stock released through LG Uplus's online mall sold out in just 30 minutes.

This atmosphere is being compared to the popularity of Samsung Electronics' first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold. Samsung, which caused a global sold-out phenomenon with the Galaxy Fold at that time, is preparing to launch a new foldable phone in the second half of the year.

Sarah Chua, Vice President of IT & Mobile at Samsung Electronics Singapore, said, "We are satisfied with the overwhelming response to the Galaxy Z Flip in Singapore."
