The court explained the sentencing by saying, "The method of the crime is very malicious," but "considering that they admitted the crime and reached a settlement with the victim."
A and B are accused of threatening broadcaster announcer C by threatening to expose their sexual relationship with an entertainment establishment employee and extorting 2 million won.
It was previously confirmed that A met C at a bar, exchanged contact information, met about once every 2 to 3 weeks, and also had sexual relations.
A informed B, whom they met as a customer, about the relationship with C, and the two decided to threaten C to extort money. Afterwards, they continuously threatened C by sending messages such as "If you want to continue working in broadcasting, send 300 million won," and C actually sent 2 million won to the two.
