[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Ju-hyung] Singer Mina and her husband Ryu Philip, who appeared on the MBN variety show 'Modern Family,' expressed their feelings about wanting to stop trying to conceive.
On the 14th episode of MBN's 'Modern Family,' Mina and Ryu Philip were shown having a meal with Mrs. Ryu Geum-ran, sharing stories they had not been able to open up about before.
During the broadcast, Mina said, "I underwent IVF two years ago, but it didn't work well, and last year I also broke my leg."
Ryu Philip added, "While Mom didn't know, we made many efforts. We did everything we could, including sperm and egg tests. We plan to try IVF again this year, but if it fails this time, I just want to stop."
Hearing their words, Mrs. Ryu Geum-ran responded, "In my eyes, you don't look old at all," and said, "It's still too early to give up, so I sincerely hope you make more efforts."
She continued, "If Mina's condition is relatively more difficult, and if you truly want to have a child, you need to put in three times the effort that others do."
Ryu Philip said, "My wife's uterine condition is not good. She has adenomyosis," and added, "In severe cases, natural pregnancy is difficult, and she might have to undergo a hysterectomy."
He then shared his feelings, saying, "I wanted to marry a wonderful woman, and my wife was truly wonderful. It seems like she is losing her shine because of the pregnancy struggles. That's why I want to stop."
Meanwhile, in an interview with the 'Modern Family' production team, Mina tearfully said, "I even thought that when I turn 70, I would let my husband go and let him remarry. Right now, my husband isn't the most important thing, but thinking about getting old and dying and being lonely makes me feel very sorry."
