[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] In China, the cumulative number of deaths and confirmed cases due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) appear to have exceeded 1,500 and 66,000 respectively.
According to China Central Television on the 15th, Hubei Province, where the damage is most severe, reported 2,420 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 139 deaths on the 14th (0:00 to 24:00). Among these, clinically diagnosed patients numbered 1,138 and deaths were 34. Clinically diagnosed patients are cases classified as confirmed based on lung CT scans even if the nucleic acid test did not yield a positive result. Hubei Province has included these figures in the confirmed cases statistics since the 12th. Within Hubei Province, the new confirmed cases and deaths in Wuhan were 1,923 and 107 respectively.
Accordingly, as of 0:00 on the 15th, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hubei Province reached 54,406. The cumulative number of deaths in Hubei Province is 1,457.
Earlier, the National Health Commission (NHC), which announces nationwide statistics in China, reported that as of 0:00 on the 14th, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases was 63,851 and deaths were 1,380.
