[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) conducted an "Emergency Group Blood Donation" on the 14th at the district office multipurpose auditorium, hosted by Hanmaeum Blood Center.
This group blood donation was organized to help alleviate the blood shortage amid the current situation where blood donations have significantly decreased compared to normal times due to the spread of COVID-19.
From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day, about 200 people voluntarily participated in the blood donation, including △ district office, community service center, and public corporation employees △ social service agents, personally practicing the sharing of life.
Lee Ji-hye, a public officer of Imun 1-dong who participated in the blood donation, said, "I am very happy to be able to help someone in need of a transfusion through blood donation. I hope many people join the blood donation and feel the same joy as I do."
Employees who participated in the blood donation received benefits of 12 types of health checkups, including liver function tests and hepatitis B and C tests, along with the issuance of blood donation certificates and a small commemorative gift.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, "After hearing reports that blood donations have greatly decreased due to concerns about COVID-19, we united our staff to conduct this group blood donation," and added, "We ask residents to also participate in sharing life through blood donation."
