[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Eun-byeol] China announced that it has allocated more than 13 trillion won in funds to respond to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) so far.


According to Chinese media on the 14th, Pu Jinling, Director of the Epidemic Response Leading Group Office of the Ministry of Finance of China, stated at a press conference on the "State Council Joint Prevention and Control System" held in Beijing that as of the 13th, various levels of (government and institutions) have allocated 80.55 billion yuan (approximately 13.6322 trillion won) in finances.


He explained, "The actual expenditure in various regions is 41 billion yuan," adding, "This money was mainly used for purchasing equipment and protective materials, subsidies for workers, and treatment costs."


He also stated that 17.29 billion yuan was allocated from central government financial expenditures. Regarding the use of central finances, he mentioned epidemic prevention and control funds for Hubei Province (1 billion yuan) and epidemic prevention and control funds for various regions (4.4 billion yuan). In addition, finances were invested in hospital construction and equipment purchase, critical care facility construction, research, and vaccine development.
