[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Francesca, 20, daughter of director Martin Scorsese, expressed her emotion, saying she was "more overwhelmed than when my dad received an award," in response to the praise for her father delivered by director Bong Joon-ho during his acceptance speech.

On the 11th (local time), Francesca posted on her Instagram, "I liked receiving a standing ovation more than my dad receiving an Oscar." Francesca, who works as an actress and director in Hollywood, attended the Academy Awards ceremony alongside director Scorsese that day.

Francesca said, "The 2020 Oscars was a night to remember, and after the ceremony, I attended three parties with my dad," adding, "I experienced an incredible standing ovation sitting right next to my dad. We all agree that moment was better than winning an Oscar."

On the 9th (local time), director Bong Joon-ho said right after the Academy Awards ceremony, "I like director Scorsese, but I have seen him repeatedly not receive the Best Director award, which is very frustrating for me."

Also, while receiving the Best Director award at the ceremony, Bong said, "When I was young, there was a phrase I always kept in my heart: 'The most personal is the most creative.' That phrase was said by our great director Martin Scorsese."

At these words, all the film industry figures sitting around Scorsese stood up and gave a standing ovation. This scene is considered one of the best moments of this year's Academy Awards.

That day, director Scorsese was nominated in 10 categories at the Academy Awards for the film The Irishman, but did not receive any awards.

Scorsese was first nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards in 1981 for the film Raging Bull, and won his first Best Director award in 2007 for the film The Departed.
