Han Myung-jin, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, is greeting residents on the streets as he tours Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, and Gangjin counties, starting his day with the local people.
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Han Myungjin, a preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea for Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, and Gangjin, announced on the 13th that he will focus all his efforts on securing thorough local budgets and resolving pending projects by pushing to secure more than 1 trillion won in government funding for regional development, becoming a lawmaker who creates budgets.
Candidate Han Myungjin stated, “Currently, local residents are lamenting and discouraged by the stagnant and underdeveloped economic reality, and the cause lies in the incompetence of politicians who have failed to secure budgets for revitalizing the regional economy,” adding, “I will definitely secure more than 1 trillion won in government budgets so that all residents can clearly feel the definite change in regional development, becoming a budget expert lawmaker.”
In particular, he emphasized, “I will transform the lawmaker’s offices into forward bases for budget securing and pending project promotion in the four counties, allowing local government officials to handle tasks and respond immediately. The local offices will serve as civil complaint marketplaces by operating a dedicated assistant system, fostering a new political model where the region and central government communicate actively.”
He continued, “For the co-growth of Goheung, Boseong, Jangheung, and Gangjin counties, I will establish a joint council of the four counties to discover and attract national projects, secure specialized budgets for the region, create Blue Villages for return-to-farming and return-to-village programs (residential-type return-to-farming academy), promote the ‘Year of Visit’ for the Gangjin Bay-Dukryang Bay area’s four counties alliance, and build a long-stay (living longer) infrastructure for Gangjin Bay-Dukryang Bay, thereby balancing regional development through lifestyle, culture, and economic communities.”
Han Myungjin’s pledge to focus all legislative activities on securing local budgets and becoming a lawmaker who creates a 1 trillion won budget for the four counties is expected to provide a new turning point for the region facing the risk of extinction.
