The second Samsung foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip, has been unveiled, signaling intensified competition in the foldable phone market. Ahead of Samsung Electronics, Motorola's foldable phone, the Razr model, was released in the United States on the 6th.
The Galaxy Z Flip, revealed by Samsung Electronics at the Galaxy Unpacked event, is expected to be sequentially launched in global markets starting from the 14th. This model is the first product in the Galaxy Z series, a foldable lineup following the Galaxy Fold, and is known to embody Samsung's determination to popularize foldable phones and lead the foldable market.
The Galaxy Z Flip offers a compact size that fits snugly into pants pockets when folded, while providing a generous 6.7-inch display with a 21.9:9 aspect ratio when unfolded. Additionally, it folds at various angles including 90 degrees, 70 degrees, and 140 degrees. The hinge is equipped with finely cut nylon fibers that prevent foreign substances from entering. The price is approximately 1.2 million KRW cheaper than Motorola's foldable Razr phone, priced at 1.65 million KRW.
‘Momophone,’ a smartphone group purchase cafe, is reportedly not conducting official pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Flip but is accepting its own pre-orders. A representative from the cafe stated, “Since the Galaxy Z Flip's shipment quantity is expected to be limited, we urge customers who want to place advance orders to make quick decisions.”
The Galaxy S20 series, also announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event, is drawing public attention daily due to its camera specifications. The S20 series consists of the S20, S20 Plus, and S20 Ultra, with a release date set for March 6. They feature 6.2-, 6.7-, and 6.9-inch displays respectively and are equipped with large-capacity batteries ranging from 4000 to 5000mAh. The standard and mid-range models come with 12GB of RAM, while the premium model offers 12GB or 16GB of RAM, delivering a high-spec flagship experience.
Moreover, all three models include a ‘Super Steady Mode,’ which adds not only conventional image stabilization but also rotation prevention and AI-based motion analysis features, enabling stable video recording even during dynamic activities like extreme sports. Compared to the Galaxy S10, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is equipped with an image sensor approximately 2.9 times larger, allowing it to capture more light under the same lighting conditions, resulting in high-quality shots even during nighttime photography.
‘Momophone’ is accepting pre-orders for the Galaxy S20 series at half-price discounts, allowing customers to pre-purchase the Galaxy S20 model, normally priced around 1.4 million KRW, for about 500,000 KRW. Additionally, customers will receive the second-generation Galaxy Buds, the Galaxy Buds Plus, free of charge. Samsung’s manufacturer gift includes a 99,000 KRW coupon for the second-generation Galaxy Buds.
While the cafe is exclusively offering the half-price discount, some vendors are misleading customers by pretending to offer all promotional gifts to attract customers and accepting advance orders, so consumers are advised to be cautious.
Information on half-price pre-orders and Galaxy Z Flip pre-orders can be found on the ‘Momophone’ Naver cafe.
