Annual 6-7 Artist Themed Invitational Exhibition Held
Year-End Art Festival at Film Festival and Communication with Locals... An Open Space for Rest and Emotional Recharge
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Art Center Sinseon Museum of Art, opened in 2014, is the first private art museum in the Mokpo area, established with the purpose of embracing the diversity of rapidly changing art and promoting harmony with the unique characteristics of traditional local art.
In particular, it has built viewing and participation infrastructure to make various marginalized cultural experiences easily accessible in the region, and by presenting and supporting directions for young artists to demonstrate their artistic skills and realize their dreams, it fulfills its mission as a museum that expands participation along with the enhancing function of art.
Sinseon Museum of Art operates a variety of events including ▲contributing to dissemination through art material viewing and understanding of contemporary art ▲promoting exhibition planning and hosting symposiums ▲supporting activities of artists and art organizations ▲cultural and artistic education projects for exchange and communication with local residents.
Based on this, it selects 6 to 7 artists annually to hold themed invitational exhibitions, provides time for artwork explanation and understanding through feedback from exhibiting artists and visitors, aims to be a traveling museum within the city, and collaborates with local institutions to sign MOUs for artist invitational exhibitions, while running a regular docent program for exhibitions targeting infants, children, adolescents, and university students.
Additionally, it frequently holds events related to the ‘Dream Road’ career experience program by the Office of Education, opens the museum once a month for art film screenings and humanities lectures, and in December hosts a year-end art festival contributing to communication with local residents.
Lee Ji-ho, CEO of Sinseon Museum of Art, expressed his vision for future museum operations: “Marking the 7th anniversary of the museum’s opening this year, we will create a complex cultural event space combining art exhibitions with art experiences and performances that local residents can directly participate in, based on the experience of event planning conducted so far.” He added, “In particular, we will plan programs that families can enjoy together so that Sinseon Museum of Art can always serve as a comfortable, visually rich space for rest and emotional refreshment for everyone.”
Meanwhile, Art Center Sinseon Museum of Art plans to hold the ‘2020 Spirit of the Times’ invitational exhibition featuring Mokpo artists starting from March.
