IKEA Dongbusan Store Opens on the 13th... First in Busan and Gyeongnam Region

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon]IKEA Korea announced on the 12th that it will officially open the IKEA Dongbusan store, the first store outside the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas and the fourth store in Korea, on the 13th.

The IKEA Dongbusan store is located within the Osiria Tourist Complex in Gijang-gun, Busan. According to IKEA Korea, it is easily accessible not only from within Busan, including Haeundae and Busan City Hall, but also from nearby major cities such as Ulsan and Gimhae. The total sales area is 42,316 m², built from basement level 1 to the 4th floor above ground. Visitors can experience spaces for home furnishing inspiration and solutions, as well as the IKEA restaurant and bistro offering healthy and delicious food, and the children’s play area “Sm?land,” where kids can be cared for free while parents shop comfortably. The IKEA store operates daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the online mall is available 24 hours.

Before the store opening, the Dongbusan store hired over 500 employees with a strong passion for home furnishing. Their average age is 35, 66% are women, and 93% are residents of the Busan area.

Based on over 100 home visits and research surveys conducted in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions, the store provides home furnishing that meets the living environments and needs of its main target customers. In particular, it offers about 10,000 home furnishing products across various price ranges, including low-priced furniture and accessories, to help even first-time home furnishing customers easily achieve significant changes at home with small differences. Additionally, since many apartments in Busan are older, there is a high demand for efficient storage solutions and new kitchen furniture, so the store plans to focus on effectively providing related solutions and ideas.

Meanwhile, to celebrate the official opening of IKEA Dongbusan, from the opening day until the 5th of next month, IKEA Family members, who can join the membership program for free, will be offered 20 popular products such as the BILLY bookshelf, H?V?G pocket spring mattress, and FANOM dining table at a special 20% discount. Until the 29th, customers who purchase kitchen furniture worth more than 2 million KRW will receive a thank-you card worth approximately 300,000 KRW.
