[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The National Health Insurance Service announced on the 11th that it will conduct a two-week study tour for transition countries, targeting Azerbaijan and Moldova (1st phase), and Armenia and Georgia (2nd phase), until the 21st.
This event, held at the Seoul Plaza Hotel and the Wonju NHIS headquarters, is a program aimed at improving the healthcare systems of the four transition countries using World Bank cooperation funds. The NHIS is entrusted with and operates this program. It supports the World Bank's Universal Health Coverage (UHC) project for transition countries and aims to enhance the efficiency of healthcare systems through sharing experiences in healthcare financial management and strategic purchasing operations.
Experts from the World Bank in the relevant fields participate and share operational cases on key issues such as the introduction and resource allocation issues of the Korean health insurance system, sharing experiences from Korea's DRG pilot project, and the operation of ICT systems utilizing e-government and NHIS big data. Additionally, seminars on development directions, healthcare field visits, data center tours, and cultural experiences are conducted. During the second week of the tour, the Minister of Health of Armenia is scheduled to visit the NHIS headquarters.
