Jangseong-gun Honored with the Grand Prize in Local Autonomy Management Awards

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it received the Grand Prize in the 11th Gwangju-Jeonnam Local Autonomy Management Awards by earning consistently high scores across seven categories: creative innovation, health and welfare, culture and tourism, safety and environment, administrative services, economic revitalization, and human resource development.

In the creative innovation category, the ‘Senior Filial Piety Voucher Project,’ which established a virtuous cycle in the local economy by linking senior welfare with the use of local beauty salons, and the ‘Lowering Earthen Floor Project,’ which utilized income from fines on illegal buildings as welfare budget, were cited as innovative cases.

In the health and welfare category, achievements included attracting and constructing the public senior housing ‘Nuri Town,’ support for shingles, hearing aids, and cataract surgery costs, and providing air purifiers and dishwashers to senior centers.

In the culture and tourism category, major accomplishments were ▲ attracting one million tourists for three consecutive years to the Hwangryonggang Yellow Flower Festival ▲ the successful combination of the Hong Gil-dong Festival and Hwangryonggang Flower Road in the Hwangryonggang (洪) Gildongmu Flower Road Festival ▲ and the creation of the Jangseongho Lakeside Baekri-gil Trail and Yellow Suspension Bridge.

Additionally, ▲ in the safety and environment category, the operation of safety insurance enrollment for all residents, ▲ in administrative services, the promotion of rental agricultural machinery delivery service, and ▲ in economic revitalization, efforts to reinstate KTX stops at Jangseong Station and the issuance of Jangseong Love Gift Certificates received attention.

In the human resource development category, key achievements included support for middle and high school students’ school uniform costs, educational expense support through contributions to the Jangseong Scholarship Foundation, and the certification of the ‘21st Century Jangseong Academy’ as a world record.
