[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] On the 11th, one additional confirmed case of the novel coronavirus was reported in South Korea.


According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on that day, the new patient is a 30-year-old Chinese woman. She is an acquaintance of patient number 3, who was confirmed positive on the 26th of last month, and tested positive during a test conducted while under self-quarantine. She was isolated at Myongji Hospital. With this, the total number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases in South Korea has increased to 28. Among them, 4 patients have recovered and been discharged.


As of 9 a.m. on the same day, the number of suspected patients who have traveled to countries with novel coronavirus outbreaks, including China, and show symptoms such as fever and cough, was counted at 3,601. This is an increase of nearly 600 from 3,083 as of 4 p.m. on the previous day (the 10th). Among them, 2,736 tested negative, and 865 are still undergoing testing.


The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters releases updates on novel coronavirus patients twice daily, at 10 a.m. (based on 9 a.m. data) and 5 p.m. (based on 4 p.m. data).
