[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] HCT, a company in the testing, certification, and calibration industry, announced that it achieved favorable performance last year, supported by the fifth-generation mobile communication (5G).
HCT (CEO Lee Suchan) revealed through a 30% change disclosure on the 7th that it recorded consolidated sales of 47.4 billion KRW, operating profit of 7.2 billion KRW, and net profit of 6.1 billion KRW last year. Compared to the previous year, sales increased by 30.1%, while operating profit and net profit rose by 66.2% and 67.7%, respectively.
Both the testing and certification business and the calibration business showed favorable results. With the commercialization of 5G beginning in April last year, demand and unit prices for base station, terminal, and Wi-Fi testing and certification grew simultaneously. In the calibration sector, sales of 5G RF (radio frequency) measurement instrument calibration increased significantly.
This year, the popularization of 5G is expected to continue driving corporate growth. In-building infrastructure is being established to enable 5G usage indoors, and the 28 GHz band, which will supplement the existing 3.5 GHz frequency, is being actively developed. Additionally, infrastructure equipment targeting overseas markets such as Japan, which is preparing for the ‘5G Olympics,’ as well as the United States, Europe, and China, is continuously being released, expanding the beneficiary base.
Lee Suchan, CEO of HCT, stated, “If last year was the year we entered a full-fledged growth trajectory, this year we will further enhance growth based on strong market dominance in wireless communication testing and certification. Along with corporate growth, we will also strive to strengthen trust through steady market communication.”
