Korean History Proficiency Test Refund Available Until 11 PM Tonight

Ministry of Education Requests 'Refrain from Taking Exams' Amid New Coronavirus Spread Concerns … Mask Wearing Mandatory at Test Centers

Korean History Proficiency Test Refund Available Until 11 PM Tonight

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Examinees taking the Korean History Proficiency Test on the 8th must wear masks when entering the test site. The Ministry of Education will not cancel the exam but has requested that examinees refrain from taking the test if possible, suggesting postponing to the next session.

The Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Korean History announced on the 7th that the 46th Korean History Proficiency Test scheduled for the 8th will be held as planned without cancellation, but examinees who do not urgently need to take the test are advised to take the next exam scheduled for May 23.

In particular, elementary, middle, and high school students, who are unlikely to have unavoidable reasons such as taking civil service recruitment exams, are strongly encouraged to refrain from taking the test.

Examinees who cancel their applications by 11 PM on the 7th will receive a full refund of the exam fee (11,000 to 19,000 KRW).

The National Institute of Korean History also stated that individuals who are quarantined due to contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases are prohibited from taking the test, and those under active monitoring, showing suspicious symptoms, or who have visited Hubei Province in China will only be allowed to take the exam in separate locations if absolutely necessary, such as for civil service recruitment exams.

All examinees must wear masks during the exam, and entry to the test site will be denied without a mask. Body temperature will be measured at the entrance, and those with a temperature of 37.5°C or higher will also be denied entry.

The Ministry of Education plans to dispatch quarantine officers to 295 test sites on the 8th to inspect the status of quarantine management.
