Information Classes, Welfare Centers, Sports Facilities, and Community Centers... Suspension Period Extended According to Infection Trends
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Sung) has decided to temporarily close public facilities frequently used by residents to prevent the local outbreak of the novel coronavirus infection.
The targeted facilities include the Residents' Informatization Class, the Guro-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Onsu Senior Welfare Center, public sports facilities, and community centers.
Guro-gu has informed students of the six local Residents' Informatization Classes that all courses will be temporarily postponed starting from the 10th.
The three public comprehensive social welfare centers?Guro Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Gung-dong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and Hwawon Comprehensive Social Welfare Center?will suspend all programs except essential care services for seniors, infants, and people with developmental disabilities from the 10th to the 19th. Free meal services will be replaced with alternative meals.
Onsu Senior Welfare Center will also operate its facilities on a limited basis until the 16th, maintaining only essential care services such as the daycare center. Alternative meals will be provided to meal recipients.
Guro-gu will also temporarily close sports facilities. Initially, the plan was to operate the facilities but allow postponement or refunds for those who wish for one month; however, considering the increasing trend of confirmed infection cases, the plan was changed.
The six facilities?Sindorim Life Sports Center, Guro Residents Sports Center, 50 Plus Swimming Pool, Gaewoongsan Life Sports Center, Guro Indoor Gateball Field, and Residents Life Sports Center?will be fully closed from the 10th to the 19th. However, three facilities dedicated to single sports (Oryu Overpass Badminton Court, Sindorim Tennis Court, and Guro Nuri Badminton Court) will be operated on a limited basis only for club members.
Detailed information can be found on the district office website and the Facility Management Corporation website.
All community centers in the district will also fully suspend programs and facility rentals from the 10th to the 23rd. Depending on the wishes of students in each community, tuition fees will be carried over or refunded.
A Guro-gu official stated, “The temporary closure period may be extended depending on the spread of the novel coronavirus infection,” and urged, “Residents are also asked to avoid crowded places and thoroughly manage personal hygiene.”
