[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Baek Jong-won from 'Golmok Sikdang' became angry at the stubbornness of the owner of the red bean kalguksu restaurant in Hongje-dong.
On the 5th, the last solution for Munhwachon in Hongje-dong aired on SBS variety show 'Baek Jong-won's Golmok Sikdang'.
In the broadcast, Baek Jong-won visited the red bean kalguksu restaurant in Munhwachon. Throughout the solution, the owner of the red bean kalguksu restaurant opposed Baek Jong-won's advice and did not change his beliefs even in the final solution.
Baek Jong-won said to the owner who insisted on his cooking method until the end, "I guarantee that there is an 80% chance this place will return to its original state," and added, "This restaurant will have customer complaints on SNS and other platforms." He continued, "Among the places I predicted, I have never been wrong," expressing his frustration.
Then the red bean kalguksu restaurant owner challenged, "Do you want to bet?" and asked, "If it doesn't change for three months, what will you give me?"
Finally, after tasting the red bean ongshimi, Baek Jong-won pointed out, "It's not even as good as what I cook at home." The owner repeated the same question from the beginning of the solution, saying, "Please teach me that secret," and asked, "When you make it at home, don't you add water or glutinous rice flour?"
Baek Jong-won called MC Kim Sung-joo to taste the red bean ongshimi. After tasting it, Kim Sung-joo said, "The bitterness is gone, but there is no flavor in the ongshimi," and added, "I wouldn't eat the ongshimi."
Kim Sung-joo said, "I was watching the monitor in the control room and saw that water was added while simmering the red bean ongshimi," and added, "We've been talking about this for a month, so I hope it gets fixed now." Previously, Baek Jong-won had advised the owner not to add water.
The owner made an excuse that he had a lot of work when Baek Jong-won advised him to make ongshimi himself and use it.
Baek Jong-won asked, "Besides making the red bean base, what other work do you do?" The owner replied, "I also make kimchi, prepare gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste), and do the dishes," adding, "I have a lot of work."
Baek Jong-won got angry and said, "How can you run a food business without even doing that much work?" He said, "Last week, my mother-in-law and I made 10 servings of red bean porridge ongshimi, and it didn't take long." "It's all excuses. There are too many excuses. If you make ongshimi once, you can use it for five days. Are you saying you want to rest for five days?" he questioned.
The two also clashed while deciding on the price. The owner said, "I'm trying to raise the price by 1,000 won," and added, "Customers ask, 'Why do you sell it cheaply when you use domestic red beans?'"
Baek Jong-won responded, "When you talked about the price, I thought you were going to lower the price of the red bean ongshimi. Charging 8,000 won for red bean ongshimi is a sin," and warned, "Now that you use domestic red beans and want to raise the price, it's like saying you want to fail."
