Seongbuk-gu Implements Special Disinfection Around Seongbukcheon to Prevent Spread of Novel Coronavirus On the 5th, a member of the Saemaeul Leaders Seongbuk-gu Council is spraying disinfectant during the 'Intensive COVID-19 Disinfection' held around Seongbukcheon.

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) conducted intensive disinfection along approximately 2.5 km of the Seongbukcheon Stream walking trail and riverside walkway to prevent the community spread of the novel coronavirus.

A total of 80 personnel were deployed for this intensive disinfection through cooperation among the district office, public health center, community service centers, and the Saemaeul Leaders Seongbuk-gu Council (Samseon, Dongseon, Anam, Bomun), carrying out focused sterilization spray disinfection.

While the district conducted disinfection to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, they also took care to protect the ecosystem of the natural stream Seongbukcheon by instructing disinfection personnel to maintain the purpose of disinfection without causing secondary damage.

Additionally, the district is providing guidance on infection prevention behaviors via electronic display boards along four local streams (Seongbuk, Jeongneung, Jungnang, and Ui), and for Seongbukcheon, which is frequently used by residents, announcements are made regularly through voice broadcasts to inform about precautionary measures.

Furthermore, the district plans to continue operating a preventive disinfection system through various means, focusing on multi-use facilities.

Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “With confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, we are concentrating all our capabilities. We are conducting thorough disinfection work throughout the entire Seongbuk-gu area. Especially, we will do our best to alleviate residents’ concerns at facilities and places frequently used by many people.”

Seongbuk-gu is operating two screening clinics (Public Health Center and Korea University Medical Center) in addition to disinfection work at multi-use facilities, and is running a 24-hour consultation center (02-2241-5271~3), focusing district government efforts on preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
