Sokcho Raw Fish Restaurant and Changwon Meat Restaurant Also Introduce 'Baemin' Serving Robots

Baedal Minjok Operator 'Dilly' Introduces 18 Units at 12 Restaurants Nationwide in Two Months

Sokcho Raw Fish Restaurant and Changwon Meat Restaurant Also Introduce 'Baemin' Serving Robots

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheolhyun] Woowa Brothers, the operator of 'Baedal Minjok,' announced on the 4th that 18 units of the autonomous serving robot 'Dilly Plate' are currently operating in 12 restaurants nationwide, just over two months after launching the rental program.

The Dilly Plate rental program, launched on November 18 last year, is currently expanding nationwide to Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Sokcho, Changwon, and other areas. The serving robot Dilly Plate is an autonomous robot exclusively for indoor restaurants. It can serve food to four tables at once through a total of four shelves. The maximum load capacity is 50 kg. When a staff member places food on Dilly Plate’s shelves and presses the table number, Dilly Plate autonomously carries the food to the customer’s table via the optimal route. If it encounters obstacles blocking the way, it avoids them on its own.

The serving robot Dilly Plate was first introduced on a trial basis by Woowa Brothers in July last year at the Italian fusion restaurant 'Merigo Kitchen' located in Songpa-gu, Seoul. In November last year, a total of three units were supplied to Pulmuone Food & Culture, a lifestyle service company under Pulmuone, for its dining brands 'Chanjang' and 'Meihao Jjamppong.'

Since the launch of the Dilly Plate rental program, interest has increased not only in Seoul and the metropolitan area but also in restaurants located in provincial areas. 'Cheongchosu Mulhoe & Seopguk' in Sokcho, Gangwon Province, introduced four Dilly Plate units in December last year and is currently operating them, while 'Seongsan Myungga,' a beef specialty restaurant in Changwon, Gyeongnam, installed two units. One Dilly Plate unit is also scheduled to be installed at 'Geumhwa,' a Chinese restaurant in Changwon, Gyeongnam. In the metropolitan area, Dilly Plate is operating in three locations in Seoul, three in Incheon, and four in Gyeonggi. Inquiries about the serving robot program are also increasing. Since its launch in November last year, the number of weekly inquiries has reached about 60.

Restaurant owners’ satisfaction is also high. Jisang Yeop, manager of Cheongchosu Mulhoe & Seopguk in Sokcho, said, "Dilly Plate has taken over the continuous task of carrying heavy dishes, allowing our staff to spend more time communicating with customers," adding, "We believe the positive aspects of the serving robot are significant as it can improve the quality of customer service."

Woowa Brothers plans to expand the supply of Dilly Plate this year. Kim Yoseop, director of Woowa Brothers’ Robot Business Division, said, "We aim to supply 300 Dilly Plate units to 200 stores by the end of this year and will continue to develop robot solutions to handle a variety of menus."
