[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] On the 2nd, the government decided to restrict entry into Korea from Wuhan, the origin of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia), and other high-risk areas such as Hubei Province in China starting from the 4th.

Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun announced this at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting held at the Seoul Situation Center in the Central Disaster and Safety Situation Room of the Government Seoul Office Building on the afternoon of the same day, stating, "We will restrict entry from high-risk areas in China where the novel coronavirus is spreading."

This is the first time the government has imposed a ban on entry from China, the source of the novel coronavirus.

Prime Minister Chung also said, "For our citizens, there will be a 14-day self-quarantine after entry," and added, "In consultation with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, we will temporarily suspend the visa-free entry system under the Jeju Special Act."
