According to the prosecution and legal circles on the 2nd, Prosecutor General Yoon requested the media and polling organizations that included him as a presidential candidate to remove his name from the list of candidates. He made the same request to other media outlets and polling organizations as well. It is reported that he stated, "It is inappropriate for the Prosecutor General, who is required to maintain political neutrality, to be the subject of public opinion polls alongside politicians."
In the poll conducted by Segye Ilbo through Research & Research from the 26th to the 28th of last month, surveying 1,007 adults aged 18 and over nationwide (confidence level 95%, margin of error ±3.1 percentage points; for detailed information, refer to the Segye Ilbo website or the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission website), Yoon received 10.8% support, ranking second. The first place was former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon with 32.2%.
Yoon attracted extraordinary attention from the political world by surpassing major opposition presidential candidates such as Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty Korea Party (10.1%), Yoo Seung-min of the New Conservative Party (4.4%), and former lawmaker Ahn Cheol-soo (4.3%).
