Amid the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in China, Kim Jong Un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, sent a letter to Xi Jinping, President of China.


On the 1st, the Korean Central News Agency reported that Chairman Kim sent a letter to President Xi regarding the ongoing fight to prevent the contagious pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus infection in China.


In the letter, Chairman Kim reportedly extended "warm greetings to all Chinese Communist Party members and medical workers fighting on the front lines of epidemic prevention, and expressed deep condolences to families who lost loved ones due to the epidemic."


Additionally, the Korean Central News Agency added, "According to the decision of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea on January 31, the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea sent financial support to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China."


Meanwhile, on the morning of the same day, Kim Song Nam, First Vice Department Director in charge of Chinese diplomacy at the North Korean Workers' Party, arrived in Beijing via a Korea Air flight. Currently, North Korea is blocking entry of outsiders into the country through a lockdown against China in response to the novel coronavirus.
