The 12th Domestic Case of Novel Coronavirus Confirmed

[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The 12th confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia) has occurred in South Korea.

According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters on the 1st, the 12th patient is a 49-year-old Chinese male who, due to work (tour guide), stayed in Japan and entered the country through Gimpo Airport on the 19th.

The patient stated that he was advised to get tested by a confirmed case in Japan, visited a medical institution, was confirmed positive on the same day, and was isolated at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said, "Through Japanese health authorities, it was confirmed that the 12th patient was a contact of a confirmed case in Japan."

The KDCA added, "A thorough epidemiological investigation is currently underway, and additional results will be shared as soon as the investigation is completed."
