[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol has risen to second place among presidential candidates in a public opinion poll, causing related stocks to surge.

As of 10:30 AM on the 31st, iCraft is trading at 3,835 KRW, up 30.00%. Seoyeon and Mobease Electronics have also hit their upper trading limits, recording limit-up prices. Mobease is up 29.75% at 1,570 KRW, and Seoyeon is up 29.98% at 3,815 KRW.

iCraft, an internet network and system construction company, is known to have an outside director who is an alumnus of Seoul National University’s Law Department and a judicial training institute classmate of Prosecutor General Yoon. Mobease Electronics, a manufacturer of automotive electronic components, and its subsidiary Seoyeon also reportedly have outside directors who are alumni of the same school as Yoon.

The surge in these "Yoon Seok-yeol theme stocks" is due to the poll results showing Prosecutor General Yoon as a leading presidential candidate. According to a poll conducted by Research & Research, a professional polling agency, commissioned by Segye Ilbo the previous day, Yoon ranked second with a support rate of 10.8%, following former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon at 32.2%. Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Liberty Korea Party, who had consistently held second place, fell to third with 10.1%. The survey was conducted from the 26th to the 28th, targeting 1,007 adult men and women aged 18 and over nationwide.
