[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] As the novel coronavirus infection (Wuhan pneumonia) has heightened wariness toward people from Wuhan within China, health authorities have stepped in to manage the situation.
At a press conference held on the 29th by the National Health Commission of China, Wu Hao, director of the Fangzhuang Subdistrict Health Service Center in Fengtai District, Beijing, stated regarding the 5 million people who left Wuhan ahead of the Lunar New Year, "It must be made clear that the common enemy is the virus, not the people of Wuhan."
He also emphasized the need to control potential sources of infection with a rational attitude.
He added that residents from Hubei Province, centered around Wuhan, have arrived in Fangzhuang Subdistrict ahead of the Lunar New Year and are currently undergoing 14 days of self-quarantine.
In some parts of China, checkpoints have been set up at village entrances or roads have been completely blocked to prevent entry of people from Hubei Province.
