[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] On the 29th, the police conducted a search and seizure at Jinju City Hall in relation to former director A's suspected violation of the Mountainous Area Management Act.
The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Metropolitan Investigation Unit began searching the Jinju City Hall Forestry Department around 10 a.m. that day.
The search targets reportedly included the computer and phone of the public official in charge of forest damage at Jinju City Hall, as well as the vehicle of former director A, who is known to be the suspect.
The police are investigating allegations that A, during his tenure, used his position to have the city tacitly approve unauthorized logging and forest damage for the development of land under his son's name in the Jeongchon-myeon area of Jinju City.
It was reported that the police secured the computer and phone of the public official responsible for the relevant work at the city hall department that day.
The police plan to continue the investigation by analyzing the seized mobile phones of A and one current public official.
