"Government Actively Supports Companies to Unleash Creativity"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun visited an artificial intelligence (AI) company on the 29th and stated, "We will boldly innovate by reexamining the regulatory framework from the ground up and expand related investments to secure core AI technologies."
On the day, Prime Minister Chung visited the data and AI company 'Saltlux' in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, held a meeting with representatives from 10 data and AI companies, and exchanged opinions on ways to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic data and AI industry. This was the first time Prime Minister Chung visited a business site since taking office.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Chung said to the company representatives, "I deeply empathize with the importance of data and AI technologies in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution," adding, "We will swiftly implement the necessary measures to lead the data economy and leap forward as a strong AI nation." He continued, "Above all, the most important thing is the creative challenge of private companies," promising, "The government will actively support companies so they can demonstrate their creativity."
Prime Minister Chung received reports on the current status of related industries from the companies and observed various service demonstrations utilizing data and AI. The visit was accompanied by Kim Yong-beom, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance; Jang Seok-young, Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT; and Son Byung-doo, Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission.
Prime Minister Chung plans to continue on-site communication efforts to directly hear the voices of companies while strengthening government support so that various companies leading innovative growth can grow steadily in the future.
