Increase in Child Support Compliance Rate After Visitation Mediation Service

Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Recruits Organizations to Conduct Visitation and Negotiation with Non-Custodial Parents

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 29th that it will expand the recruitment of organizations to implement visitation and contact services for single-parent families.

The visitation and contact service is a system where the non-custodial parent meets with the child or exchanges letters, spending a certain period of time together. The Ministry explained, "It has been found that spending time together for a certain period also increases the compliance rate of child support payments."

Currently, only the Child Support Enforcement Agency provides visitation and contact services, and through a public recruitment, four centers will be selected in four regions: Seoul/Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Jeolla, and Gyeongsang, to increase the number of implementing organizations.

The recruitment targets are Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Centers, Healthy Family Support Centers, etc., that can provide the service, and the application period is from January 30 to February 14 of this year.
