[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Lawyer and broadcaster Seo Dong-joo expressed her honest views on divorce.

On the 28th, Seo Dong-joo, daughter of Seo Se-won and Seo Jeong-hee and currently active as a broadcaster, appeared as a guest on the first broadcast of KBS2's new variety show 'Stand Up'.

Seo Dong-joo said that after watching stand-up comedy last year, she posted on SNS, "If I get a chance, I want to try learning it once," and then received an offer to appear from a writer.

That day, she talked about the pros and cons of divorce based on her own experience.

Seo Dong-joo candidly revealed, "There are many difficulties after divorce, but one of the hardest things is worrying about 'when should I tell someone about the divorce' when meeting someone new. Whether it's better to say it at the first meeting with the other person, before or after physical intimacy, deciding the timing is the most difficult."

She compared, "There are ranks in divorce too. Private, Private First Class, Corporal, and Sergeant. Private is someone who divorced within one year of marriage, Private First Class is someone who was married about five years, Corporal is someone who was married over ten years, and Sergeant is someone who has children regardless of the length of marriage."

Seo Dong-joo also mentioned the advantages of divorce. She said, "When you go to an interview, they ask about your life story. When you talk about divorce then, the interviewers' eyes sparkle. When meeting someone who is divorced, you can feel a kind of camaraderie."

She added with a laugh, "When I tell men approaching me at clubs, 'I'm divorced and almost forty,' they all disappear. For those who want to go to clubs but don't want one-night stands, I recommend divorce."

At the same time, Seo Dong-joo sincerely asked for support, saying that the pain experienced by those who have gone through divorce is great. She concluded, "I spoke about divorce with some jokes, but the pain that divorced men and women go through is very big. I hope you will support them a lot."
