Samsung SDS Launches Blockchain-Based 'Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Samsung SDS announced on the 29th that it has launched a blockchain-based 'Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance.'

Actual expense insurance policyholders currently have to visit hospitals individually to obtain supporting documents and submit them directly to the insurance company when filing claims. To resolve this inconvenience, Samsung SDS partnered with insurance companies, hospitals, and digital healthcare specialists to develop a Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance that allows policyholders to claim insurance benefits more conveniently.

After paying medical expenses at ▲payment counters ▲kiosks ▲mobile devices, actual expense insurance policyholders receive a KakaoTalk notification provided by Samsung SDS's Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance. By clicking the link, they can easily file their insurance claims.

The Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance applies Samsung SDS's enterprise blockchain platform 'Nexledger,' enabling hospitals to reduce unnecessary documents such as medical receipts. Insurance companies can eliminate manual processing of supporting documents, fundamentally prevent receipt forgery and alteration, and significantly reduce costs.

Samsung SDS's Simple Claims Service for Actual Expense Insurance is currently available to actual expense insurance policyholders of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance and NH Nonghyup Life Insurance at Gangbuk Samsung Hospital and Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital. By the end of this year, it plans to expand to 30 major domestic hospitals, including Ewha Mokdong Hospital and Seoul Medical Center, and 8 insurance companies.

Shim Heon-seop, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung SDS Financial IT Division, said, "We will continuously expand the service so that more actual expense insurance policyholders can conveniently file claims regardless of time and place."
