[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Emart24 announced on the 29th that it will launch 8 types of mini wines for solo drinkers on the 30th.
Emart24 introduced 8 types of mini wines in response to the increasing number of single- and two-person households and the growing demand for small-sized wines at convenience stores. In fact, an analysis of sales of 7 types of small-sized wines under 187ml from 2017 to 2019 by Emart24 showed that sales in 2019 nearly quadrupled compared to 2017.
The 8 mini wines can be easily enjoyed without a wine opener and are available in pouch type (100ml) with 4 varieties, bottle type (187ml) with 3 varieties, and cup type (187ml) with 1 variety.
The pouch type includes 4 varieties from Italy’s One Glass: Cabernet Sauvignon, Vermentino, Sangria, and Mojito. The pouch type is convenient to carry and allows you to enjoy a glass of wine anytime, anywhere. The selling price is 4,900 won.
The larger bottle type consists of 3 varieties from the representative American winery Gallo: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Moscato. The cup type is a red wine blended with Sangiovese, a representative grape variety from the southern Tuscany region of Italy. It can be enjoyed directly without a wine glass. All 3 bottle types and the 1 cup type are sold at 3,900 won each.
Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine characterized by a rich yet smooth taste. Vermentino is a white wine with a fresh green apple aroma, Sangria is a sweet wine with rich fruit flavors and a refreshing aftertaste, and Mojito is a wine cocktail blending mint and lime scents. Merlot is a medium-bodied wine that is smoother compared to the full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon, and Moscato offers a sweet and refreshing taste.
Areum Son, Emart24’s liquor buyer, said, “Mini wines are optimized products for convenience stores and are easy for single- and two-person households who felt burdened by the usual wine volume to enjoy,” adding, “Starting with these 8 mini wines, we plan to continuously introduce differentiated wines throughout this year.”
