[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Singer Kim Heung-guk, who had suspended his broadcasting activities due to allegations of sexually assaulting an acquaintance, shared an update on his recent situation after being cleared of all charges.

In an interview with the comprehensive magazine 'Womansense' on the 28th, Kim Heung-guk said, "I thought I could resume activities once the sexual assault charges were dropped, but it was not easy," adding, "My confidence dropped a lot. I even wondered if I would never be able to work in broadcasting again."

Regarding the sexual assault allegations against him, he emphasized, "All charges ended with no indictment. The woman who accused me of being a sexual assailant is currently incarcerated."

He said, "During the past two years of rest, I went to temples whenever I had time. Naturally, I spent a lot of time alone reflecting on various thoughts," and added, "In the end, I realized that I had enjoyed too much. As soon as I debuted, 'Horangnabi' became a big hit, and I took the popularity for granted without appreciating it."

He continued, "When the issue first arose, it was absurd. The hardest part was watching close colleagues and acquaintances leave," and said, "When I was struggling, no one contacted me to say 'let's have a drink.' It was more shocking and painful to realize that people were only close to me because I was 'celebrity Kim Heung-guk' than being accused of sexual assault."

Kim Heung-guk expressed, "I sincerely thank my wife, who remained silent without saying a word to me, believed in me until the end, and protected our family," and said, "After everything was resolved, I told my wife, 'Thank you for waiting. I'm sorry.' From now on, I want to live doing everything for my family."

Kim Heung-guk was investigated in April 2018 on charges of sexually assaulting an acquaintance who worked as an insurance planner in March of the same year but was cleared of all charges. The woman was reportedly sentenced to one year and ten months in prison for fraud and theft and is currently incarcerated.
