A total of 1.08 billion KRW allocated for 270 complexes, accepting applications for the 'Apartment Support Project'... Up to 45 million KRW for common facility maintenance, 8 million KRW for community revitalization... Funding supports conflict resolution, cultural events, urban farming, and various facility repairs
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Nowon-gu (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) is carrying out the ‘Apartment Support Project’ to revitalize communities and create a pleasant and safe residential environment.
The total support budget is 1.08 billion KRW. Eligible applicants are 270 apartment complexes with 20 or more households within the district.
The support projects cover maintenance of common facilities and community revitalization.
Maintenance of common facilities includes ▲repair of senior centers and installation of study rooms ▲repair and dredging of sewage systems within complexes ▲installation and maintenance of CCTV for resident safety ▲repair and reinforcement of disaster safety facilities ▲installation and improvement of energy-saving facilities. From this year, elevator replacement has also been included in the support projects.
Community revitalization projects include ▲resolving resident conflicts such as noise between floors ▲operation of resident-participatory local volunteer programs ▲construction and repair of childcare facilities ▲maintenance and repair of public restrooms.
Maintenance of common facilities is supported up to 45 million KRW (50-60% of project cost), and community revitalization up to 8 million KRW (60-90% of project cost).
Apartment complexes wishing to participate must apply in person at the Apartment Support Division by February 28. Before applying, approval from the residents’ representative meeting is required based on the long-term repair plan and securing the budget for self-contribution.
Application forms can be downloaded from the district website and the city’s Apartment Integrated Information Plaza.
The district will select support recipients through the ‘Apartment Support Review Committee,’ which will review ▲appropriateness of projects ▲priority of support projects ▲support amounts and budget management, and notify applicants individually.
The district will also promote a project to support replacement of old common water supply pipes in apartment complexes. Eligible complexes are those built before 1994 using galvanized steel pipes that have not yet replaced their common water supply pipes.
The replacement cost, including city subsidies per household, will be fully supported between 700,000 and 900,000 KRW.
Every year, the district holds apartment building representatives’ workshops and Healing Hanmadang festivals to improve residents’ quality of life and promote community awareness.
District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “Apartments and other multi-family housing account for 80% of all housing in Nowon-gu. We will continue various policies and support to create better apartment communities.”
